Our BIG news!

Pretty sure the secret is more than out of the bag, but for my blog followers, you heard it here: Champs will become a BIG BROTHER in January!!!  We are so very excited to welcome another little one into our family.  It makes my heart smile to think about Champs becoming a big brother and loving on (and I'm sure hitting too) a sweet little baby.  It also makes me so excited to think about starting over with a new little person to love and watch grow.  Now that we have an almost two year old, I can honestly say I understand how fast it goes, so will relish each stage so much more this go round!!

While our timing and God's timing were just a little off, it has turned out to be perfect timing!  I thought I would probably get pregnant sometime this summer/early fall, when in fact I found out the Tuesday after my brother's wedding I was indeed expecting!!  :)

Here are some pictures from that next day when I told my mom the news by having this t-shirt on Champs when she got to our house!

I am due exactly 6 months from now, which doesn't seem that far away.  We will find out whether we will have a boy or girl on August 10 and will be announcing to everyone else at Champs' birthday party on August 15.  Stay tuned!!  (I'm feeling like it's a boy - we'll see!!)

And here we are this past weekend at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville for the SC Defense Trial Attorneys Meeting.  I am 14 weeks!

Goodbye PAYA

As many of you know, Champs was more than fond of his pacifier and the obsession has only been getting worse as the months have gone by!  It almost had gotten to point where I feel like he couldn't play and enjoy himself if he knew the paci was upstairs or our in the car, etc.  So let's face it, it was driving Mama crazy!!! Last week, it was especially bad, and I was fighting with my almost two year old way too often about it - which is pretty silly if you think about it.  So totally out of the blue on Thursday morning about 7:15, (he's been on a 3 week kick of waking at 5:30am - that's a whole other story) I decided the Paci Fairy was visiting our house and taking all of his pa-yas as he calls them!

What came out of my mouth was this...."Champs, oh my goodness - this is so exciting - the Paci Fairy came and took all your paya's!!  Do you know what this means??  She thinks you're a big boy!!  Mommy is sooooo proud of you!!"  Lots of hugs and kisses and then I waited to see what he'd say.....He looked at me and said "Payas are all gone?!"  I said "Yeah!" And he started giggling.  (WHAT??!!)  And that FOR THE MOST PART is exemplary of how it's gone since.

I can honestly say nothing has shocked me more in my life!  My little Champs was OBSESSED with it and when it was gone, he was honestly okay.  Sure, he's asked for it, but I'll remind him where they went and we'll move on to something else.  I tell him that the Fairy took them to some TINY babies who need them.  And that because he was a big boy now he got to go pick out a new toy.  Below is a video of him getting his new dump truck at Target on the afternoon of Operation Paci Go Bye-Bye! So yes, he's asked for it some, told me he needed it and not the tiny babies a few times, but all in all, he's done SO WELL and has NOT had it since Thursday morning bright and early!!

What's funny too is since we took the paci away he is also asking for Raffi (giraffe lovey) farrrr less as well.  And many times before we're leaving to do something, he'll run and put Raffi in his crib and say his famous line...."Bye Bye Raffi, see you next time!"

Let's just say PROGRESS all around!! :)

I am so very proud of my almost 2 year old!!  Oh and this happened on the day he turned 23 months - so when I am looking back later I'll remember this!

A small part of me will miss it, because it reminds me of Baby Champs and oh how it soothes and relaxes him, but I think it's definitely for the best.  So long paya!

Lately....picture download!

Time to catch up on what we've been up to.  Champs has been enjoying having "Water Day" at school every Friday this summer.  The teachers have sprinklers, water tables, outside snacks, etc and it's been a lot of fun.  This was the day we were in charge of snack.  We took ice cream sandwiches!

After the 4th of July holiday at the beach, we had a full wedding weekend in Charleston the following weekend and KK & Boo came and stayed with Champs.  They took him to a dinosaur event at the Colonial Center on that Saturday and the pictures looked like he had a great time!  After doing that, they went to Chick-fil-a and he got an ice cream cone!

This is a new face Champs is doing and I think it's hilarious.  I didn't quite get the pic as he was fully doing it.  It's like he's making a scared face - I'm sure I've done it to him before.  He watches EVERYTHING I do and hears EVERYTHING I say!  He will do it and then says "mommy do it!" - so we just do it back and forth.

This past weekend we were in town all weekend which was really nice!!  We went to the zoo with some friends and Champs had a ball!!

Saturday, I had a work event which happened to be a pool party, so Barrett and Champs came too!

Sunday we were finally able to go to church after being out of town so much this past month.  After church we went to brunch with Melissa and Charlie!  We promised Champs that if he was a good boy at brunch he could "drive Daddy's car" for a few minutes when we got home.  He had been whining about it all morning!! It was definitely highlight of the day for him.

Few other random videos of Champs from recently...!

We have also had a MAJOR DEVELOPMENT in our house this past week.  It calls for it's own post!! Coming next....Haha :)

Early morning beach pics

The morning we were leaving the beach, I took Champs out to the beach to try to get some good pictures.  I swear when I'm trying hard to get "real" pics, he looks down the entire time!!  It's so hard to get pics of this wild man, but here's the best I could do.
