Where has this month gone? I can't believe it's August and the new school year starts in just a couple of weeks. It's been a great summer. We've definitely been in Columbia more than usual, but I think of any summer to do it, it's best it was this summer since we have a baby. We have had some fun outings to the zoo, Edventure, the pool and to Bishopville, but a lot of time has been spent at home with our extremely imaginative almost 3 year old and lots of pretending/role playing, etc! We have made more rocket ships, pirate ships, firetrucks, etc out of our sofas, ottomans and chairs than you can even imagine. Every toy can suddenly become a cookie mixer, a doctor's bag, fireman hose, etc etc in the mind of Champs! And Jack has become quite the important part in our games. Jack has been Cubby in Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Pluto in Mickey, MANY times of patient to Doctor Champs and even gets to be the backup Fireman sometimes. For the record, he calls me the Fireman Lady :)
I can't talk about July and the close of summer without first again mentioning Evers. She was an absolute PERFECT fit for our family this summer. She rolled with my sometimes crazy schedule of early morning events, late night events or days I didn't have to work until later she'd be cool coming in later. She GOT Champs from Day 1 and knew just how to play with him and understand his little quirks. She also got his funny sense of humor and enjoyed him the way we do. She adored Baby Jack like we all do, which is so easy to do, but still was much appreciated. She took such good care of him, even in the times his little tummy was getting adjusted to formula and he wasn't a happy camper. She was always ready to take on any request whether it was starting Jack on food or taking both boys to Edventure. You may be wondering how she spent so much time with Champs since he's in school in the summer too. I just wanted him to NOT be there so so much since it is summer, so many days she would stroll Jack in the double stroller to get Champs from school right after his nap (we live 5 min walk from school/church) and then they be at home until I got home from work. Friday was her last official day for summer. I hope she will be able to keep the boys a couple more times before school starts for her, so I was able to say goodbye Friday without tears. I hate goodbyes - I get so attached to "my people". I will always remember our summer with Evers, or Miss Evas as Champs calls her - he doesn't pronounce any "r's" and man oh man I'm gonna cry when he starts to!
Oh Evers, we will miss you!!!
