Wow Wee - only 2 more months until my baby boy turns TWO! Champs is continuing to be the funny, curious, BUSY, strong-willed, adorable little monkey that he always has been but is really turning into such a little boy as he grows nearer to two. His personality is awesome and he makes me laugh every single day. Thought I'd share some of the funny things he's doing and saying.
Singing! Lots of singing in the last month or so. He breaks out in "Old MacDonald Had a Farm. E-I-E-I-O" ALL THE TIME. That's definitely his favorite. And he just says that one line - doesn't continue the song. Another favorite he sings sometimes are ABC's. He usually starts with ABCD, but sometimes he will break out with QRS, and he loves to say "Now I know my ABC's, next time won't you sing with me!" He also like Baa, Baa Black Sheep and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Jumping! I think his summer teacher at EDS must be working on jumping b/c this boy is loving to jump these days. We actually had a friend witness Champs in the middle of the circle with all his class buddies around him chanting "Jump Champs Jump!" and he was so proudly jumping in the middle. So glad he happened to catch Champs' turn when he dropped off his daughter so he could tell us about it. So the jumping isn't getting too much air off the ground - it's more of a bounce and he sticks his bottom out while he does it. He is VERY proud nonetheless and we do the "jump champs jump" at home all the time now!
Counting! Champs can count to 10! Now very often he skips a number or maybe skips 3 numbers, but on occasion, this morning being one of them as we walked down the stairs holding hands, he successfully counted to 10!
Talking, talking and never stops talking! Some funny things he is saying these days:
- Bye Bye, See you next time! (He says it real fast and matter of fact. If I say something like, Champs do you want to go with Daddy to play outside? He'll respond very quickly "Yeah! Bye Bye Mommy, See you next time!" and off he goes!)
- Oh my goodness! (I think he gets this from me. I mistakenly said oh my gosh a few days ago and he's remembering that too, but I keep trying to get back to oh my goodness!"
- Ummmm, yeah. (I hear he gets this from me too. Basically he is my shadow and picks up on everything I say!! Scary! "Champs, do you want an applesauce?" "Ummm, yeah."
- He started saying "I love you Mommy" and "I love you Daddy" on his own (without us asking) in the last month and it's pretty much the sweetest thing in the world. He will look at me with those big brown eyes and in the sweetest voice say it....melts my heart!!
- Mommy hold you. Translate (Mommy, hold me. I think this comes from me saying "you want mommy to hold you?"
- Me no like it. (The answer to way too many foods I try to get him to eat!)
- No Champs drive Daddy car. (No, Champs cannot drive Daddy's car. He will say it so innocently, but it comes from the 100's of times we've had to tell him that no, Champs cannot drive Daddy's car every time he sees it!!)
- Loves to spot "firetrucks" and "ambulances" around town. Hearing him say ambulance makes me laugh.
- Loves to sing "Happy Birthday" song! And especially when it's a real bday party and involves a cupcake!
Trying to think what else....he can pretty much say anything now and is talking in more and more sentences. I will come back and add to this list as I think of things!
Obsessions:
- STILL Raffi, Monk, Sammy and paya. Raffi has taken the lead as of lately and now is the one he chooses to go to school with him for his nap. Monk now stays home with Sammy in the bed.
- Dumptrucks: He pushes the yellow dump truck that the Boyers gave him for his first birthday ALL OVER THE PLACE. He loves it and all dumptrucks.
- Actually all trucks he loves so much. Diggers, Dumptrucks, firetrucks, mailtrucks, bulldozers, etc etc Boys will be boys.
- Books. Champs still LOVES reading all his books. And he takes them in so well. Sometimes Barrett and I will read and get to end of a sentence to see if he'll fill in and he usually does. He's listening!! Which I'm not surprised he knows the words considering how many times we read some of his favorites!
