Today was Champs' first day of staying home from school b/c he was sick. Though I had to move around some appointments and am having to work a little extra tonight, I sure did enjoy the extra snuggles with my sweet boy all day today. He has a double ear infection and has had fever for the last 2 days. As on the go as he constantly is, the snuggles are hard to come by. I do hope he wakes up feeling better tomorrow and is back to himself by Thanksgiving festivities later this week!! Please say a prayer for Champs!

Saturday in B Land
My brother and I always laugh b/c my Dad refers to Bishopville as B Land. "Alright, I'm heading back to B Land." Probably not funny unless you know my dad, but anyway...it had been way too long since I had been there so was excited for a day trip to Bishopville this past Saturday. It was chilly but sunny so we spent most of the day playing in the backyard and enjoying the sunshine. My grandparents came over for some yummy vegetable soup my Mom made and my aunt and uncle came by to see Champs too. We also went for a walk by one of the last cotton fields that hadn't been picked so that was nice to see. We watched the Clemson game and then Champs and I headed back to Columbia. It was a great way to spend a Saturday!
15 Months!
Goodness these last 3 months since turning 1 have been busy for Champs! I feel like he's learned so much and developed such a personality in these months. I think the words used most to describe him at this point are BUSY and ACTIVE. While he is awake, unless it's right before nap or right before bed, he DOES NOT STOP :)
My little busy bee makes me laugh constantly. He loves to play. He ADORES to read books. This is definitely his favorite activity right now. He loves to grab a book and scoot backwards to our laps to have it read to him. I wish his interest in being a bookworm would last for a while, but I'm sure it will pass as he gets more into trucks, trains and balls. He is trying so hard to say so many things. He has a good little list of words he can say very well, some that only we can probably understand, and then so so many things that I wish so bad I knew what he was trying to say! In good time I'm sure we will.
He is no longer just walking, but can pretty much RUN! I love to see him do it - those little legs going so fast are so cute. He loves to slide and has figured out not to lean forward when going down the slides.
He is learning so much at school and really loves going. Every morning I kiss him goodbye in the elevator and tell him to have a great day. When I take him inside I give one more hug and he runs off to his friends and teachers. He still gets so excited when he sees me in the afternoon to pick him up and runs to me so fast! Seeing him spot me is probably my favorite moment of the day. He is giving the sweetest little kisses now and will kiss you too if you ask.
He has gotten all 4 of his first molars and more teeth are coming in the bottom too. His hair is super blonde and coming in more and more. I feel like he still looks kinda bald in pics, but in person, he does have a decent amount of hair now. He weighs 25 pounds and is 32 inches tall.
Things Champs is currently obsessed with and/or doing at 15 months:
- Bubbles! As in bubble baths. He is loving bath time and spends half of it saying "more" meaning he wants more bubbles!
- Books (as said above) Current favorites: Dear Zoo, Pete the Cat, Little Blue Truck, Wide Mouthed Frog, Brown Bear Brown Bear, Barnyard Peekaboo and I could keep going and going
- Animal noises - loves making all the animal noises. I think he may actually now think a horse is a "neigh" and a cow is a "moo" but we'll work on that :)
- Shoes: He really has always gotten very excited when he gets a new pair of shoes, but lately he's just obsessed with shoes and socks in general. He loves his own shoes and loves pulling out our shoes from our closets. His favorite shoes are his church shoes, so I'm constantly having to persuade him they are not best to wear to school every day. :)
- Pointing at body parts: Loves to point to his own nose, ears, eyes, mouth, fingers and toes and will show us ours too
- Moon! Very into pointing to the "moon" if we come in from the car and it's dark.
- Driving: Still very into driving anything he can get his hands on! If you follow the blog regularly, you've seen lots of pics of him on golf carts, tractors, etc etc
I will say this age is definitely my favorite. He melts my heart and makes me laugh out loud every single day. I love my boy oh so much!!!!!

Bunch of nothing = Whole lot of fun!
This weekend was glorious b/c we did a bunch of nothing, which can sometimes be a whole lot of fun! Barrett, Champs and I were in town all weekend and spent some great time together. It had been a long, busy week so we were excited for some down time.
I got Champs a little early on Friday afternoon and went to Barnes & Noble to the kids book section. I had never done this before and it will definitely be at the top of my list of activities from now on. He loved it. He is so into books right now that he was just on Cloud 9 with books everywhere he turned. They also have a train set so that was fun too!
After this we met Barrett at Chickfila for supper (supper for Champs that is). He loved his kids meal and waving to all the pretty sorority girls!
Fri night after we got Champs bathed and dressed in extra warm pj's and coat and tobogan, we went next door to our new neighbors house to roast s'mores on thier firepit. They moved in about a month ago and have 2 young boys, ages 2.5 and 6, so great for Champs! They are really sweet to him already.
Barrett and I made our first fire of the season on Fri night after Champs went to sleep!
Saturday morning, I took Champs for a big treat. He had his first ever donut. He LOVED it to say the least. He ate every bite. I'm not sure I'd ever had a "Latte Lite" from DD before, but I will say, it was pretty tasty! These pics of him with the donut make me laugh.
Charlie came over and watched football with us all afternoon and played with Champs. We had a good time and even got our firepit going out back. It was that kind of weekend - cold!! I made chili and cornbread for all of us, even Champs liked it!
Didn't take many pics and somehow never got one with Charlie, but we had a good time. Champs is quite obsessed with the new dog next door. This is him looking for him!
And enjoying the firepit!
Since we had an extremely disappointing game, though later received the great news that Deshaun did NOT tear his ACL, we had to create some new fun. Champs had a blast with Barrett pushing him so fast across the den on this little car. Hilarious to watch!
Champs turned 15 months old on Sunday! We went to church and then to Lizard's Thicket for lunch. They have a great $3.99 kids meal with a meat and 2 sides. Champs had baked ham, macaroni and butter beans (NOT lima) and loved it. He is still fascinated by lemons and loves tasting them only to make these horribly funny faces afterward!
It was a great weekend and has me ready for a new week!!
Can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. And that means Christmas is right behind. I need to get busy!!!!
Have a great week everyone! We are headed to doctor this afternoon for his 15 mo appt.

Barnyard bathtime
Champs is super into animals right now and has recently started making the animal noises. I've been meaning to get this on video lately and happened to get it while he was in the bathtub. The consensus on the favorite is the "neigh"...

Weekend review
Champs and I headed to Charleston on Saturday morning for a fun visit with my cousin, Catherine. I had been looking so forward to our visit for weeks for two reasons: Cat hadn't seen Champs since his 1st bday AND b/c I hadn't seen her since she found out she has a little bundle on the way!! She's due June 1 and I couldn't be more excited!! After what seemed like a really long trip down with multiple stops for ice, gas, and finding paci & monk - we finally got there about 11:30. We quickly unloaded my car and headed downtown for lunch.
We went to The Rarebit on Upper King and it was hoppin as usual. It was after 20 minutes of waiting and getting to our table that I found out they didn't have highchairs, but we said oh well and hoped for the best! Champs did pretty well, with a lot of help from Puffs, books, a grilled cheese and a funny Cat.
After lunch we walked back down King Street to our car and headed back to James Island to Cat's house. Champs didn't even know where to turn when he saw a golf cart, a tractor and 2 dogs! He had so much fun playing at their house that he decided he didn't even need a nap (he had napped pretty much whole way down though). Here's a glimpse of his fun on the "toys" at Uncle Blake and Aunt Cat's. We also got to visit with Uncle Will (real uncle here) and Melissa. Aunt Ashley was busy being an awesome Junior Leaguer but did come over Sat night after Champs had gone to sleep.
Champs played so hard all afternoon that by 6:15 he was getting so tired. Uncle Will was reading some books to him and then Champs was sleepily playing with his phone and took this picture. Tired eyes + monk + paci = sleep is coming soon!
Sunday morning before heading back, we went over to Mt P to see Matt and Katie, their new house and their new cute dog, Hudson!
Katie made the most delicious breakfast casserole that I had to get the recipe immediately. I can't wait to make this soon! Here is the recipe.
After this we were on the road again with a bee-line trek to see Da!! We had a good afternoon - was such a pretty day. We walked around the neighborhood for a bit and then went back so Champs could nap b/c I had a "fun" activity planned for late afternoon. Joan was SO KIND to offer to take some pics of us so I could try to get a picture for our Christmas card so we went downtown and did that late afternoon.
We closed out the weekend with an early supper at Tazza Kitchen!
Hooray for the weekends! Now back to the grind....
